Responsible Business – Let’s take responsibility

Responsible Business hotel in Liége
The Park Inn by Radisson Liége Airport is the only hotel in Liége that is Green Key certified.

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important component of the Rezidor Hotel Group's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children's rights, health and safety, as well as environmental improvements.

This hotel is engaged with local charities, the Rezidor Hotel Group corporate international charity organisation and the World Childhood Foundation. The WCF's mission is to defend the rights of children and promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children all over the world.

Employees:

  • All employees and new personnel are trained with Living Responsible Business and take an active role in reducing any adverse effects of daily duties on the environment and/or community.
  • Staff and management are committed to the principles of Responsible Business and strive to have a positive influence on the key issues of Health and Safety, the Community and the Environment.

Guests:

  • Guests are advised on how they can help through the clean towels program, and public areas are equipped with paper recycling bins.

Suppliers:

  • Hotel restaurant features Fair Trade coffee, and goods are purchased from suppliers with ethical trade practices.

Community:

  • The hotel organised a visit of a Boeing 747 cockpit for disabled children.
  • The hotel sells water in collaboration with suppliers so all revenue goes to the World Childhood Foundation.

Environment:

  • Corridors offer motion sensor light bulb systems which will soon extend to the lifts and reduction of light bulbs in offices by 50%.
  • Each room features Energy Saving Lamps with a switch-off programme when equipment is idle.
  • Showers and bathroom taps have water flow reducers and a low-flow showerhead.
  • The hotel is committed to the reduction of hotel waste and ensuring responsible disposal through work with local authorities to develop a sustainable recycling program.
  • The hotel promotes water conservation with a bathroom sticker reminding guests to protect the environment.
